DepEd Says 1st Day of School “A Success”
DEPED – The Department of Education spoke on the first day of classes in public schools under blended learning.
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a lot of pauses in the different matters in the Philippines. It includes the opening of classes in the country.
Usually, the school year opens in June but because of the persisting risks amid the pandemic, it was initially moved to August 24. Several days before the classes were set to start, it was moved to October 5.
Unlike before, the mode of learning now is different. Blended learning is implemented. There are virtual classes and as well as modules distributed to the students as part of their academic requirements.

Yesterday was the first day of classes in public schools. According to an official of the Department of Education (DepED), it wa “a success”.
Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio told ANC that the Department “has not monitored any major difficulties” so it would like to believe that the first day of classes is successful.
“In fact, the first day of learning did not happen today. There are many homes whose children were already doing lessons even during the weekend,” she said.
Based on the report, San Antonio added that he has personally witnessed households wherein the children are very engaged in their classes. According to him, the kids “appear to be very excited”.
The DepEd official stressed that problems such as the poor connection to the internet and not being able to attend the virtual classes because of it aren’t signs of failure.
