Get customised cool with a Samsung BEPSOKE fridge

Everybody knows that refrigerators come in white, silver, or occasionally black. Going bespoke means hiding the fridge behind custom (and expensive) joinery. But what if there was another way to get a bespoke fridge to fit your style, when your style runs further than white, silver, or black?

Well, at last, Samsung’s BESPOKE fridge range makes it possible. Fresh from winning a Canstar Blue 2022 innovation award, and a Good Design Award 2022 Gold Accolade, Samsung BESPOKE refrigerators are changing the way people think about their kitchens, and about what a fridge can be.

What is BESPOKE?

Traditionally, you choose a fridge with a set of features you need (number of doors, position of freezer, drinks dispenser and so on), dimensions that fit your space, and an all-over style. Samsung’s BESPOKE fridges do things a little differently.

You can still choose from a range of fridge types and specs, from a classic bottom-mount fridge to a single-door, all the way up to a French-door fridge. But you also get to choose the door colour and material. And not just white or stainless steel, BESPOKE lets you mix and match seven colours and two select finishes.

BESPOKE lets you mix and match seven colours in two select finishes. Image simulated for illustrative purposes.

That’s right. You don’t have to choose an all-Satin Blue fridge, you can choose a fridge with a Clean Navy freezer door, Clean Pink fridge door, and even add in another single-door fridge in Cotta White.

You can even mix and match a French-door fridge, or another single-door freezer, or whatever you want. Samsung’s BESPOKE fridges are modular, which means if you buy two fridges to set side-by side, you can use a Pairing Kit1 to lock them in place (relative to each other) so the doors always open smoothly, and everything stays looking squared-away and smart, even if a boisterous family member bumps the fridge or slams a door.

Speaking of doors, you can also choose the door direction. For example, if you’ve chosen a single-door fridge and single-door freezer to pair, you can set the right-hand unit to open from the left, and the left-hand unit to open from the right, creating a bespoke install that’s a bit like a giant French-door fridge.

You can use Samsung’s BESPOKE Design Studio to preview how three modules (that is, three separate fridges) will look combined in a virtual kitchen. Of course, you’re not limited to a mere three refrigerators in your real home, you can combine as many as you like, but the BESPOKE Design Studio is a great way to see how door colours will look together, and lets you quickly experiment with a range of styles.

BESPOKE is modular, allowing you to set two or more fridges side-by-side with a Pairing Kit1 to lock them in place. Image simulated for illustrative purposes.

Which fridges are BESPOKE?

Samsung’s BESPOKE fridges aren’t an exclusive range, but more like a tier in many of the brand’s most popular and full-featured fridge ranges. There’s the ultra-minimalist and cool (literally and figuratively!) single-door fridge or freezer modulars, standalone French-door with Beverage Centre, French-door modular, and bottom-mount modular (similar to a traditional fridge-freezer but with freezer on the bottom).

Any BESPOKE fridge that has a modular option can be physically connected to another modular fridge with a Pairing Kit,1 while the French-door with Beverage Centre fridge is free-standing but can still be configured with the BESPOKE colours and finishes.

The bottom-mount modular BESPOKE fridge suits a smaller apartment or family home, with enough space for fresh and frozen produce for people who don’t need extras like beverage dispensing.

The single-door modular fridge and freezer offer lots of capacity, especially if you need to keep a fair amount of frozen food to hand but don’t have a massive kitchen or want to use a top-loading deep freezer.

However, thanks to their modular design, both the fridge and freezer can form part of a larger install, especially thanks to their configurable door-opening direction (which you specify when you order the unit). You could set up two fridges with a third freezer to one side, all connected into a single installation via Pairing Kits,1 and each door a different colour to your taste.

BESPOKE fridges include single-door bottom-mount and French-door designs. Image simulated for illustrative purposes.

You can also pair a modular single-door fridge with the modular French-door BESPOKE fridge, which with its familiar four-door design offers even more flexibility. And while it can be paired with any modular BESPOKE fridge, it also looks great on its own, since you can specify each door with a colour that showcases your style.

And finally there’s the BESPOKE French-door with Beverage Centre fridge. This free-standing unit doesn’t just showcase BESPOKE’s style, it also showcases Samsung’s fridge technology, such as the plumbed Dual Ice Maker, Autofill Infuser Water Jug, and triple cooling. Plus, it’s Wi-Fi enabled so can send an alert to your phone, letting you know if you’ve left the door open so you can keep your food fresher for longer.2

Why choose BESPOKE?

Samsung’s new BESPOKE family of fridges (and other BESPOKE appliances too) lets you express your style at home in ways that haven’t been possible until now. At least, certainly not without spending an awful lot of time and money on custom joinery.

BESPOKE is a welcome refresh to the traditional design of fridges, after decades of very conservative and conventional styling.

Perhaps most importantly, while BESPOKE’s options to combine colours is unique, the concept goes beyond this with the module system that allows you to combine multiple fridges and freezers into a single coherent unit that looks amazing in your home.

That means there’s a BESPOKE configuration for everyone, from the tiniest studio apartment to the most rocking party palaces (or the biggest of blended families).

How to get your Samsung BESPOKE fridge

You can preview a configuration of up to three BESPOKE fridges online at the Samsung BESPOKE Design Studio web page. Choose your fridges and configure how they’ll be arranged in your kitchen, select a finish for each, then choose colours for the doors. How many doors depends on the fridges you choose – a French-door modular, for example, has four doors you can configure. You can also choose which direction the door on certain models opens.

The BESPOKE Design Studio will then show you a quote for the configuration, which will include all the technical bits you need such as any Pairing Kits.1 For example, if you choose three units, you’ll see two Pairing Kits added automatically.

You can then place your order right from the Samsung BESPOKE Design Studio, and your amazing new BESPOKE fridge (or fridges!) will be delivered to you.

How to live smart with a Samsung BESPOKE home

The smart home is here to stay, with more and more appliances and devices getting connectivity features to make your life easier. But a smart home shouldn’t just be smart, it should also look smart. Which is where the Samsung BESPOKE home comes in, with a variety of smart devices that can also be configured with different colours and finishes. At last, the power of personalisation is yours.

From refrigerators to air purifiers, from a smart vacuum to your washing machine, Samsung is taking things to the next level with smart control and connectivity, via the SmartThings app.

What is BESPOKE Home?

While all Samsung products are designed to look great and fit a modern lifestyle, well, some of us are just a little bit more demanding when it comes to styling our space. Samsung BESPOKE home is a deceptively simple concept: Make familiar appliances and devices look even better than they already perform.

Samsung BESPOKE isn’t a range, it’s more like enhanced versions of familiar products. For example, Samsung BESPOKE Refrigerators include the same cutting-edge tech and features as Samsung’s like-for-like top-tier fridges, but you can choose from seven colours, in two select textures, and five types of formats.  And because you can configure individual doors to different colours, that gives you an incredible number of choices to suit your unique style and needs.

Other appliances in the BESPOKE range include the AirDresser, a range of CUBE™ Air Purifiers, Jet Stick vacuum stick cleaners, and the newest edition: the BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ robot vacuum.

To say the BESPOKE concept has been well-received might be an understatement. The BESPOKE CUBE™ Air Purifier, Refrigerators, and AirDresser are all winners of the 2022 Australian Good Design Award, and the entire BESPOKE catalogue won a 2022 Canstar Blue Innovation award.

Of course, Samsung BESPOKE home products don’t just look good and give you customisation options, they’re smarter, too. Selected appliances in the range2 can work with Samsung’s SmartThings app for scheduling, remote operation, and energy and power-saving insights, all via a compatible TV or a mobile device.3

What makes a SmartThings smart home?

You might be familiar with the general idea of a smart home, where devices and appliances use your home Wi-Fi to communicate and do things such as streamline tasks or alert you to various things. SmartThings is Samsung’s smart home ecosystem, and it can be controlled via your Samsung mobile phone, or even via a Samsung smart TV, which can work as a home hub. There is also a range of non-Samsung products that work with SmartThings too, such as light bulbs, smart switches, and more (explore more at https://www.samsung.com/au/apps/smartthings).

SmartThings-enabled devices connect via your home Wi-Fi and can be remote controlled and scheduled using the SmartThings app. This runs on your Android mobile device, or on a smart TV which lets you see everything that’s happening up on the big screen.

Once you set up a SmartThings home, you’ll see how much sense it makes. After all, you usually have your phone with you, right? So why hunt for a remote or fumble for a switch when your mobile is right there?

And SmartThings goes beyond control and scheduling, with AI Energy Mode. This keeps an eye on all your connected devices and how they are using power. Over time, it builds a picture of household usage patterns and can optimise these to assist you with energy saving.

In 2023, all Samsung appliances will be equipped with Wi-Fi, and able to connect to and work with Samsung Energy in the SmartThings app.

A day in the life of a smart Samsung BESPOKE home

So how does all this tech and design work, in the real chaos of a busy Aussie home? Well, let’s imagine a typical family with two parents and at least three kids – generating plenty of washing, requiring plenty of food, and all using devices at all hours of the day, while coming and going to multiple busy schedules.

When you purchase a SmartThings device or appliance, it needs to be set up, by following the clear steps in the SmartThings app. Each is added to the home and, along with third-party devices4 like blinds and lights, can be included in a routine or mode. Let’s see how that works.

7.00 am

First thing in the morning, everyone gets an alarm on their phone to start the day. But thanks to SmartThings, blinds in the living areas also open, and the kitchen lights come on.

Overnight, SmartThings AI Energy had bumped the AC up by a couple of degrees to save on power, but now everyone is up and bustling around, it knows to drop the thermostat to 22 again, which is the family’s preferred temp.

8.30 am

Now, most of the family heads out to school and office, but mum works from home, so she uses the SmartThings app on her phone to start Work From Home mode. This brightens her Samsung Smart Monitor in her home office, switches the BESPOKE CUBE™ Air Purifier to WindFree™ mode (quieter and less disturbing) and also increases the air-con to her preferred 24 degrees.

11.00 am

While mum’s hard at work in the study, the BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ vacuum sets off on its own workday. Having mapped the house to avoid furniture and track its progress, all the Jet Bot has to contend with now is a mischievous family dog. Dad can log into the Jet Bot’s camera remotely to ensure pup isn’t getting frisky, while mum’s on a work call.

3.00 pm

Later in the day, mum takes a break for her workout. The family uses a spare bedroom for exercise kit, and this room is defined in the SmartThings app as the Home Gym. Mum uses her phone to activate Workout Mode, and the air purifier in this room ramps up, and the AC drops to 21. The family has a smart TV in this room for video workouts, and mum likes to use the TV’s Multi-View mode, which allows her to follow a video workout online, while monitoring her own form via the camera view.

6.00 pm

Evening now, and dad is home to cook dinner. He’s rocking out with earbuds and can’t see that behind him he’s accidentally left the door of the BESPOKE fridge open. Fortunately, the SmartThings app sends a notification on his phone – which he hears in his Bluetooth earbuds – letting him know the cold air is escaping.

7.30 pm

After dinner, everyone wants to let off steam with some gaming. They put the living room into Game Mode, which dims and colours the lights, and switches the air purifier and AC to silent mode to prevent distraction – it’s game on!

Match over, dad darts upstairs to pop his work shirts into the AirDresser for a steam and a freshen, deodorising them for the next day.

8.30 pm

Back in the living room, everyone is chilling out with the latest episode of their favourite streaming show. The room is now in Movie Mode, which means subdued lighting and the smart TV picture optimised for their content.

Midway through the show, the TV pops up an alert, letting the kids know the washing machine has finished its cycle and they can go hang out their sports gear now. There are plenty of groans, but hanging out washing isn’t something the kids can pass off to the smart home… yet.

10.30 pm

As everyone heads off to bed and everything quietens down, you’d never know that all this high-tech stuff was happening. Thanks to Samsung’s BESPOKE design language, which effortlessly blends with the family’s own décor and style.

Then, just as dad finally gets off his feet and into bed, he realises he’s left the kitchen light on downstairs. No problem – he just uses the SmartThings app on his phone to switch out the light, leaving everything ready for the next day.

Why a Samsung Smart Monitor is different

For years, your computer’s monitor hasn’t needed to be smart. After all, being smart was your computer’s job. But that was back in the days when a computer was relegated to the study or a nook. Today, with WFH a normality and so much you can get done at a desk (work or play), the age of the smart monitor has dawned.

So what makes a smart monitor? With Samsung’s M-series, flagshipped by the 32 inch Smart Monitor M8 , you get the excellent picture quality you expect for your computer, plus a whole host of extra features that let you do so much more. From your favourite streaming apps1, to controlling your compatible smart home devices2, you can even experience productivity without a computer via Microsoft 3653. And it’s all wrapped in an iconic slim design that looks amazing in any décor.

When is a TV not a TV?

TVs and computer monitors use similar technology to show images and video, but computer monitors have typically focused on very precise static image control and connectivity with a PC. However, in recent years we’ve seen game and video controls make their way to computer monitors too. A Samsung Smart Monitor, though, is something altogether different.

There’s that UHD (3140×2160) resolution and 3000:1 contrast ratio you’d expect for precision desktop work, but they also include an onboard Wi-Fi adaptor, and a smart-TV-like interface (powered by Samsung’s Tizen operating system). So once the work is done, a simple press of the monitor’s remote brings up all your favourite entertainment right there, without any need to wrestle with sources or switch on another box.

Entertainment in every space

It’s called Samsung TV Plus, and it includes free live content that requires no downloads or sign-up, as well as the streaming apps you’ve come to know and love like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ and more.4 If you can already use a smart TV, you already know how to use your Samsung Smart Monitor as an entertainment hub in your space, it’s as easy as that.

And don’t worry about image quality. The flagship Samsung Smart Monitor M8 has HDR10 and HDR10+ to bring out every nuance in dark scenes, and a billion colours to make whatever you’re watching seem more than lifelike. There’s also Samsung’s Adaptive Sound+ for crystal clear audio no matter the source, and Adaptive Picture to make watching even in broad daylight a joy.

Detachable SlimFit webcam

In recent years, computer monitors have lagged the displays built into laptops in one important respect. Sure, a desktop display is bigger, but it usually lacks a built-in webcam like a laptop, or has to make do with a tiny little camera wedged into the top bezel. The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 changes that with its magnetically attaching SlimFit webcam module. It integrates neatly into the back of the monitor, and the camera itself pops over the top.

Having a free-standing camera allows the Smart Monitor M8 to offer a bunch more camera features, such as tilting to get that perfect angle for a video conference. There’s also Face Tracking and Auto Zoom, which when used with compatible video call software (such as Google Duo), keeps you in the frame even if you move around your space, and ensures your chat participants can always see you clearly.5

And if you’re ever concerned about privacy, not only can you pop a cover over the camera’s lens, you can even remove the whole SlimFit module entirely for the ultimate in peace of mind.

A PC workspace… without a PC

One thing that computer monitors have always needed is, well, a computer. Whether that’s a laptop using a video out cable, or a dedicated desktop tower PC, you can’t do much on a monitor without a computer, right?

A Samsung Smart Monitor changes this up with built-in productivity apps, including Microsoft 365.6 That’s the online version of the productivity software you’ve used for years, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more. All you need to do is connect the smart monitor to your Wi-Fi, sign in with your Microsoft account, and add a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. You can also use Microsoft 365 to access a remote PC.

If you’re a Samsung smartphone user, you can also connect your phone in desktop mode, called Samsung DeX, for a more desktop-like experience and still access all your phone apps, contacts, emails, photos, and other content right at your fingertips.7

One cable, lotsa uses

Speaking of connectivity, computer monitors are notorious for having a rear panel packed with confusing (and often never-used) sockets. DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort – all have their advantages and disadvantages, but the Samsung M8 Smart Monitor simplifies all of this with a single USB-C port. With USB-C you can connect image, audio, and data all through a single compatible cable, and as long as your device supports it, this can be to a desktop PC, smartphone, or tablet.9 (One-cable USB-C connectivity is also available on the M7 Smart Monitor – see below.)

Game harder and wider

Let’s talk gaming. The Samsung Smart Monitor range includes gaming modes and Samsung’s Game Bar, an on-screen menu that lets you adjust game-related settings including response time, sound output (to the monitor’s built-in speakers or an external audio device), and aspect ratio. This is ideal for competitive gaming, where you can change your monitor’s native 16:9 aspect ratio to instead show a 21:9 image, like an ultrawide monitor. Depending on the game, this may let you see more of your environment and give you a killer edge.

And to help ensure there is a screen for every type of gamer, Game Bar features alongside Samsung’s Smart TV experience in the premium 55 inch Samsung Odyssey Ark personal gaming theatre and the  Odyssey G6 curved QLED QHD gaming monitor (available in 27 and 32 inches).

A smart monitor in a smart home

Work, games, streaming, and computerless productivity. Surely that rounds out the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 repertoire? But no. Thanks to that built-in Wi-Fi module, you can also use the M8 (and others in the range, such as the M7 and M5) as an IoT control hub for your smart home.

If you use SmartThings compatible devices, from lights to blinds, AC or smart speaker, you can control it all via the smart monitor, for a perfectly relaxed evening.11 And you can make it all happen via voice control, with support for Samsung’s Bixby and Amazon’s Alexa too.12 You can even use Apple AirPlay to connect devices with a tap or two and enjoy content from your Apple phones, tablets and computers on the bigger screen4.

Meet the family

As mentioned, the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 is the range flagship, so let’s meet a couple of the others and how they tailor their features to your particular needs.

Samsung Smart Monitor M7

At first glance, you might think of the M7 as a more ‘traditional’ monitor design, but it packs the same smart features as the M8 (and the same UHD 3140 x 2160 resolution), including Samsung Smart TV and PC-less Workspace. However, it also includes two HDMI2.0 ports to connect additional devices, and a USB hub for external hard drives and other productivity peripherals. It comes in a conventional 32 inch and a massive 43 inch version, and is a great go-to for families in need of more than one monitor in the house.

Samsung Smart Monitor M5

Ideal for a student looking to maximise space and value – or even as second (or third!) display – the M5 is a full HD (1920×1080) monitor with two HDMI inputs for a computer and a second device. There are also two USB ports for peripherals like hard drives or cameras. Don’t let the spec fool you – the M5 still includes all the smart functionality you need, from Samsung Smart TV to that PC-less Workspace mode via Microsoft 365. It also works as a smart home hub for Samsung’s SmartThings. You can grab an M5 in 32 inch or a space-saving 27 inch, and like the M7 Samsung Smart Monitor, it comes in black or white.

Get style and substance with Samsung S-Series soundbar

The soundbar remains the easiest and most convenient way to get big cinema sound at home, and the Samsung S-Series soundbar range is all about premium performance and luxe lifestyle designs.

There are four different models to choose from, but all four are designed with personalisation and customisation in mind, to let you elevate your personal aesthetic. Just one example: the HW800B and HW-801B can be wrapped in bezels1 to match Samsung’s The Frame TV, for design personalisation that goes further than ever before – with no compromise in audio quality.

In fact, the opposite is true, with the Samsung S-Series soundbar range boasting world-first Wireless True Dolby ATMOS and DTS Virtual:X, giving you the flexibility and options you need to create a truly immersive cinematic experience at home.2

It’s all part of what has kept Samsung’s home theatre range the global number one soundbar brand for eight years running3, and winners of Canstar’s Most Satisfied Customers award for Home Theatre Systems in 2021 and 20224

S-Series Ultra-slim design

The HW-S800B and HW-S801B S-Series are Samsung’s Ultra-Slim soundbars, packing maximum performance into a minimally intrusive chassis. Available in premium black (HW-800B) or white (HW-801B), these soundbars are a smidge under 4cm high and deep, so they slip effortlessly under almost any TV, yet can offer the same level of sound performance as Samsung’s larger soundbars.

As mentioned, these 3.1.2-channel soundbars are equipped with Wireless True Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X connectivity.5 It’s a world first for soundbars, and means you can position the optional SWA-9500S wireless rear speaker kit more conveniently, and still get room-filling sound.6 It also allows you to place the soundbar as you like, whether that’s on top of a console, or mounted with the optional wall-hanging kit for the ultimate in minimalist style.5

Optimised, adaptive audio

Despite their almost impossibly compact design, the HW-S800B and HW-801B are packed with cutting-edge technology dedicated to one overriding mission: Fill your room with rich, natural sound, whether you’re watching the latest movies, streaming your favourite shows, or listening to music on your compatible mobile device paired via Bluetooth.

When it comes to synchronising sound and vision, the clever Q-Symphony feature works with compatible Samsung TVs to analyse motion on screen and adjust sound accordingly for an even more immersive surround experience.7 Meanwhile, Adaptive Sound keeps an ear on the audio signal to help deliver optimised sound based on each scene.8 The result is crystal-clear sound, no matter what you’re watching.

Sound from above and beyond

The inclusion of True Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X means the HW-S800B and HW-S801B have upward- and side-firing speakers that use your walls and ceiling to help create a stunning 3D-like sound environment, even without rear speakers, while the included subwoofer is designed to provide that cinematic thump of bass, no matter where you position it in the room.

Up-firing speakers help deliver enveloping Dolby Atmos and DTS effects. Beyond the speakers themselves, both soundbars offer Wi-Fi for smart connectivity and wireless connection with a compatible Samsung TV (or you can use the HDMI-ARC connection). There’s also Easy Pairing with the SmartThings app, so you can simply tap a compatible Samsung mobile device on the soundbar to pair. Naturally, there’s support for your favourite voice assistant, whether that be Google, Alexa, as well as Apple AirPlay2 for easy streaming from Apple devices.9

And finally, we can’t skip the unique aesthetic options you have when you purchase an HW-800B or HW-801B for your Samsung The Frame TV. Depending on which bezels you chose for your Frame, you can get a matching set for your new soundbar, for the ultimate in style.10

S-Series soundbar with all-in-one design

For a soundbar with a timeless look that doesn’t compromise on performance, consider the HW-S60B (all black) and SW-S61B (in white). Curved and textured to emphasise durability, dimension, and natural expression, these soundbars live up to their S-Series designation with an exceptional feeling of room-filling sound.

The HW-S60B and HW-S61B take advantage of their all-in-one design to remove the need for a separate subwoofer. Instead, two horn speakers combine to provide rich and fully-dimensioned sound (including those pounding cinematic basslines we love), while a dedicated centre speaker helps provide crisp, clear dialogue from where we expect it: front and centre.

Audio enhancements

The all-in-one design doesn’t mean you have to compromise on massive sound though. There’s also wireless connectivity with optional rear speakers, and support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X content.11

As with the HW-S800B and HW-S801B, the HW-S60B and HW-S61B also feature Samsung’s Q-Symphony technology, which matches audio with movement on compatible Samsung TVs for more immersive entertainment12. Adaptive Sound13 is common to all too, so whether you’re watching sport, the news, a favourite movie, or something new and experimental from your preferred streaming service, you have peace of mind that your soundbar is working to have it sound its best.

Also, taking advantage of the HW-S60B and HW-S61B’s dedicated built-in centre channel, there’s Active Voice Amplifier, which analyses the soundbar’s environment and boosts those parts of the signal that carry dialogue, which helps make speech in movies and TV easier to understand.14

Music and smart connectivity

The HW-S60B and HW-S61B aren’t just a support act for your TV. They can also be placed independently to act as a pure music speaker, whether connected to a source via optical or paired with a compatible mobile device via Bluetooth. Simply set the soundbar to Music Mode and playback is optimised to make your music sound its best and take your audio quality to a high level.

Clever connectivity via devices and the SmartThings app helps make setup a doddle too. You can simply tap a compatible mobile device to pair it with the soundbar, and with a compatible TV you can connect an S-Series via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to cut down on unsightly wires and enable control of the soundbar via your TV’s remote.

More is… more

When you need a speaker to do so much more than play sound, the Samsung S-Series soundbar range is engineered to meet high expectations. From world-first wireless surround technologies5 to leading audio enhancements, easy connectivity and flexible ultra-slim or all-on-one designs, these soundbars represent more in just about every measure.
