Oppo Find N2 Flip launches in Australia with impressive foldable features

There will soon be even more flip phones to choose from locally, with the Oppo Find N2 Flip now officially confirmed for an Australian release.

The news comes after its global reveal late last year, and it will be the company’s first foldable phone to make it to Australia. One of its biggest selling points is the large 3.26-inch cover screen capable of showing up to six notifications at once when closed. For comparison, the Motorola Razr 2022’s cover screen measures 2.7 inches, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 has an even smaller 1.9-inch cover display.

Major features

Arguably the biggest bugbear with any foldable screen technology is the visible crease on some devices. To combat this, Oppo claims the Find N2 Flip has a near-imperceptible crease you can barely see or feel, and that the device has been tested to over 400,000 folds using its second-gen Flexion Hinge technology.

Another flip phone advancement Oppo touts is its 4,300mAh battery, bigger than the Razr’s 3,500mAh and the Flip4’s 3,700mAh batteries. Plus, the N2 Flip features Oppo’s 44W Supervooc fast charging, said to fully charge a near-depleted battery to 100% in under an hour.

From a software perspective, the Oppo Find N2 Flip employs the company’s custom Android wrapper, ColorOS. This operating system reportedly takes full advantage of the flip format and the phone’s large cover screen. You can quickly reply to messages, access settings, take calls and more while the phone is closed. There’s also support for the long haul, too: Oppo promises four years of ColorOS updates – the longest OS support from the company to date – and five years of security updates.

After the phone launched in China last year, overseas reviewers indicate that we’ve got plenty to look forward to. Early looks from the likes of The Guardian and The Verge suggest there’s plenty to like about the N2 Flip thanks to its good build quality and display.

We still don’t know if the horizontally-folding Oppo Find N2 phone – a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold range – will come to Australia. In the meantime, it’s exciting that the local flip phone competition gains another entrant to push the technology forward. On paper, the N2 Flip impresses in a lot of areas, so we’re looking forward to testing it out.
