Take a look at any smart home gadget, and you’ll see some form of AI technology involved. What Eufy hopes to do differently with its first power over Ethernet (PoE) network video recorder (NVR) security systems is to deploy local AI technology that doesn’t need a cloud connection to work.
Eufy revealed its whole-home AI plans at IFA earlier in the year, intending to provide users with responsive AI technology that operates much quicker and more concisely than current local models.
Specific to the brand’s new camera system, a technology called “ProSecure” uses a built-in local AI model to identify suspicious behaviour. Eufy says it will be capable of analysing a person’s appearance and behaviour, like peering into a parked car to check for valuables, and instantly alert relevant contacts.
On the hardware side, Eufy’s new security systems consist of a range of different cameras, including the S4, E40, and E41 models. The S4 includes a fixed wide-angle 4K camera, accompanied by a dual 2K camera array capable of panning a complete 360 degrees. Then there’s the E40, a bullet-shaped 4K camera that remains in a fixed position. The E41 model, known as a turret camera, adds 360-degree pan and 90-degree tilt motion.
Bundles including a mix of the above cameras start at $1,299 in Australia. This includes four cameras and the NVR unit, which comes with a 2TB hard drive, plus room to fit up to 16TB later. Because each camera connects to and draws power from the NVR, it enables them to record continuous 24/7 footage, while tapping into the main unit’s Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ8 chip that powers the local AI.
The new Eufy PoE NVR security system is available to order now via Eufy’s website and major retailers. Bunnings will stock the E40 and S4 systems in early 2026.
