Hot new Ecovacs robot vacuum is much cheaper than its rival

More Australians are interested in robot vacuums than ever before, according to new research from Ecovacs, as the company launched its latest range in Australia. Led by its new flagship model, the Deebot X5 Pro Omni, Ecovacs recently announced three new robot cleaners for the local market.

89% of surveyed Australians are open to sourcing help from robotic appliances as time and cost-of-living pressures contribute to the stress of daily chores. Robot vacuums happen to be high on many Aussies’ wishlists, with 59% planning to buy one to help around the home.

A super-competitive market, there’s no shortage of robotic cleaning appliance brands in Australia. After a popular Aldi Special Buys drop, Ecovacs’ latest launch adds further options to the growing segment.

Building on the D-shaped design of the X2 Omni, the Deebot X5 Pro Omni is slimmer, smarter, and more powerful than the brand’s previous flagship robot cleaner. With a peak suction power of 12,800Pa, it surpasses Ecovacs’ Deebot T30 Pro Omni in raw strength, and even Roborock’s top-of-the-line model.

Capable of mopping too, the Deebot X5 Pro Omni uses built-in AI smarts to identify areas that need more TLC. If it detects a stubborn stain, it’ll automatically boost the water used and go over the stain multiple times. Once the robot returns to its auto-empty station, it then washes the mop with hot water and dries it to prevent mould growth and odours.

Deebot T30S Combo + N20 Pro Plus

Billed as an all-in-one cleaning hub, the Deebot T30S Combo includes a robot vacuum, docking station, and a handheld vacuum for reaching tight spaces.

Spec-wise, the T30S isn’t drastically different from the X5 Pro Omni. Its suction still reaches an impressive peak of 11,000Pa, while the included Omni station brings the hot water mop washing features. This station also empties the debris from the handheld vacuum.

Other than the slightly lower suction power, the T30S retains the conventional circular robot vacuum design. Although it’ll cover a decent amount of your house, it might not fit into corners as neatly as the more premium model. It also doesn’t get the latest AI-driven navigation model that helps identify tougher stains while mopping.

As a more affordable option, the Deebot N20 Pro Plus rounds out the newest Ecovacs models. It does something rather unique in the world of robot vacuums: a bagless auto-empty station.

Dubbed the “PureCyclone Auto-Empty Station”, it houses HEPA filtration technology to purify air and make emptying the container less cumbersome. Stations reliant on bags may trap dust efficiently, but they need replacing regularly. This tech could make a case for a more sustainable solution going forward.

Even though the Deebot N20 Pro Plus is priced substantially lower, it still sports pretty decent specs. Its suction power reaches a healthy 8,000Pa, and it has vibrating mop technology to help dislodge stains on hard floors.

Ecovacs Deebot X5 Pro Omni release date and price

Of the three new robot vacuums announced by Ecovacs, the Deebot N20 Pro Plus is the only one available now. You can walk into just about any major home appliance retailer and pick one up for $999 in Australia.

Both the Deebot X5 Pro Omni and the Deebot T30S Combo launch on 5 September. Pre-orders are live now, with the X5 Pro Omni priced at $2,499, and the T30S Combo costing $2,299.

Notably, Ecovacs’ new premium robot appliance costs $500 less than Roborock’s equivalent at retail. Australians might want to invest in robot vacuums, but not everyone has a spare nearly-$3K hiding between the couch cushions.
