Monster 98-inch Blaupunkt TV costs less than $4,000

It’s hard to miss the newest Blaupunkt TV, a 98-inch behemoth at an affordable price.

At $3,999 from JB Hi-Fi, it’s one of the cheapest ways to enjoy this level of sheer size in your living room – if you’ve got enough space, that is. Expanding its range in more ways than one, the 98-inch Blaupunkt TV uses QLED technology, comprised of quantum dots capable of producing 1.07 billion colours.

It also runs on webOS, the LG-developed platform, meaning you’ll find a decent range of streaming apps. Support for Apple AirPlay comes included, letting you cast media directly from an iPhone or iPad.

Although LED might not be as bright as Mini LED, or produce the same viewing angles as OLED, this is clearly a TV aimed at providing the biggest possible screen at a comparatively low price. For comparison, Hisense’s 100-inch Q7NAU TV costs $5,999 – which is still a decent price for such a big TV.

Not many budget TVs in the past have been suited to gaming. In a sign of the changing times, the 98-inch Blaupunkt TV has a 120Hz panel, the maximum refresh rate supported by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. Supporting this is a “Game Optimiser” feature designed to reduce input lag, fostering a smooth gaming experience.

If 98 inches is too big for your living room, there’s also an 85-inch model available for $2,299. Blaupunkt might not garner the same level of pedigree as some of the best TVs on the market, but the brand makes it more approachable and affordable to enjoy big-screen viewing at home.

And, with plenty of sports on TV right now, you might just want a big screen at a low price.
