Rockstar Games debuted the GTA 6 launch trailer for its upcoming open-world crime caper overnight, with a distinctly Australian flavour present in the background.
Normally, a game’s launch trailer coincides with the actual launch date. Rockstar either didn’t get the memo, or it simply doesn’t care. When a game as hotly anticipated as GTA 6 — scheduled to launch on 19 November — is around the corner, my money’s on the latter.
Aside from setting the scene for the game’s protagonists, Jason and Lucia, the 90-second trailer features a catchy new tune. Made specifically for the game, “Flower in a Hurricane” sees Aussie artists Tame Impala plus King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard team up with Justice and SZA on a synth-laden anthem well-suited to Vice City.
GTA 6 may still be a month away, so the new trailer is just another layer to an unconventional launch strategy that also included an extended gameplay debut on Netflix, of all places.
