SAN JOSE — A man whose wife runs a home daycare in East San Jose has been charged with molesting a child under their supervision, and investigators are exploring whether he could have sexually abused more children over the past decade, authorities said.
Monday, police announced the arrest of 62-year-old San Jose resident Julio Cesar Carrasco-Diaz on suspicion of multiple counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14. Court records show he was criminally charged Nov. 18, and police confirmed he was booked into the Santa Clara County jail on Nov. 22.
According to police, Carrasco-Diaz lives at a home on McGinness Avenue that is registered with the state as a family daycare business that can serve up to 14 clients. A person who was under his care recently reported to police that they were sexually assaulted by Carrasco-Diaz several times between 2011 and 2019.
Because of the nature of the accusations and Carrasco-Diaz’s previous access to and supervision of children, police said they believe there are other children he may have abused. According to licensing records from the state Department of Social Services, the daycare had not been the subject of any prior formal complaints or citations.
Anyone with information about the circumstances of Carrasco-Diaz’s arrest, or about other potential victims, can contact the SJPD Sexual Assault Investigations Unit at 408-537-1394.
