It’s not often a game studio launches its latest title earlier instead of pushing it back. That’s what makes the release date change for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 so remarkable.
Scheduled to launch on 11 February 2025, medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 now has a revised release date of 4 February, one week earlier. It’s a show of confidence from the Czech-based Warhorse Studios that its next big game is ready to hit the market early.
Don’t see it as a simple magnanimous act, however. 2025’s release calendar is absolutely stacked with major game releases, including fantasy RPG Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is another heavy-hitter due the same month, along with Civilization VII and Monster Hunter Wilds. And that’s just the big-budget games, let alone the countless brilliant indies likely to drop between now and then.
So, if anything, the earlier release date gives Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a bit of extra breathing room before the deluge of games arrives. A sequel to the 2018 RPG that recently passed the eight-million sales milestone, the new entry comes with high expectations.
Set in 15th-century Bohemia, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 places you in the armour of Henry, son of a blacksmith, amidst rising civil war tensions. Like the first game, the sequel takes a more grounded approach to roleplaying, replete with survival elements like fatigue and hunger. An in-depth narrative and weighty combat system sit at the game’s heart, much of which was inspired by real-life weapons experts.
One week might not seem like a huge difference, but it sure beats a delay. While you wait, stay tuned for a hands-on preview of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
