68-year-old man in critical condition after Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — A  68-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot multiple times Wednesday night in East Oakland, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 9:21 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of 97th Avenue just north of B Street.

Police said the man was standing outside with some other men when someone began shooting at them.

The 68-year-old man was the only one hit, suffering wounds to his face and chest, authorities said.

Police have not said if the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle or if the wounded man was the intended target.

A motive has not been determined and no arrests have been made.
