Woman wounded in Oakland shooting

OAKLAND– A 24-year-old woman was in stable condition after she was shot early Friday morning in East Oakland, authorities said.

The woman told police she was walking in the area of 17th Avenue and International Boulevard about 12:04 a.m. Friday on her way home when a vehicle pulled up next to her and a man inside said something to her before shooting her in the arm.

Police have not said what the suspect said to the woman or if she recognized him.  He fled in the vehicle, possibly a Mercedes.

The woman was taken to a hospital.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.
