Several must-play games feature in the latest PlayStation Plus update

Some absolutely massive games feature in the March 2023 PlayStation Plus update, including last year’s supernatural open-world Ghostwire Tokyo, and a collection of Uncharted adventures.

There are plenty of good titles to choose from, catering to all ages and tastes, across both the Monthly Games and Game Catalogue additions. From now until Monday 6 April 2023, you can redeem the three newly listed Monthly Games and keep playing them for as long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. The cheapest subscription starts at $11.95 per month or $79.95 annually.

Meanwhile, the Game Catalogue is a rotating on-demand library of recent and classic games you can access via a PlayStation Plus Extra or Deluxe subscription. An Extra plan costs $18.95 per month or $134.95 annually, while the Deluxe tier costs $21.95 a month or $154.95 annually. The updated Game Catalogue library comes into effect on 21 March 2023.

It’s worth looking out for the semi-regular PlayStation Plus membership discounts to save money. Late last year, you could subscribe at any tier and get $40 off, which is a decent saving. It’s also worth tracking each month’s game additions to ensure you get the most value from your subscription.

These are the games you can redeem on any subscription tier and play for as long as you have an active membership, even after the redemption period ends on 6 April.

  • Battlefield 2042 (PS4, PS5)
  • Minecraft: Dungeons (PS4)
  • Code Vein (PS4)

One of Call of Duty’s main competitors in the first-person shooter space, Battlefield 2042 had a rough launch period in 2021, but regular updates have seen it gradually improve over time. Being given away as a PlayStation Plus game should see servers filled with players if you’re keen to engage in some futuristic warfare.

On the other end of the violence spectrum, Minecraft: Dungeons is a cute dungeon-crawler spin-off based on the popular creative builder game. You can play up to four-player co-op with mates while accumulating loot along the way.

In regards to Code Vein, I’ve seen it referred to in some circles as “Weeb Souls”, referencing its anime style (Western anime fans are often labelled “weebs”, short for “weeaboo”) combined with the action-RPG combat inspired by the Dark Souls series. If any of those words made sense, you might be the target audience for this game.

PlayStation Plus March 2023 Game Catalogue update

It’s tricky to know where to start with the Game Catalogue additions, as there’s a lot of quality in this list. Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection includes PS5 remasters of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, both of which are great action blockbuster games.

Another standout is Ghostwire Tokyo, a supernatural open-world adventure inspired by Japanese folklore. A fun fact: the game comes from Tango Gameworks, who recently launched Hi-Fi Rush, a distinctly non-spooky game. Both are worth checking out in their own right.

Untitled Goose Game

To stop myself from rambling about nearly every game on this list, I’ll mention just one more: Untitled Goose Game. A local phenomenon from Melbourne studio House House, it’s a delightful game about playing as a mischievous goose. Upon release in 2019, Untitled Goose Game quickly rose to worldwide popularity, won several awards, and sold more than a million copies. If you haven’t played it yet, you owe it to yourself to play this wonderful Australian creation. A post-launch update added the ability to play two-player, letting you cause mayhem with two geese!
