Motorcyclist dies after losing control on rural East Bay road

A motorcyclist lost control on a rural road late Thursday night and died in the ensuing crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 11:40 p.m. on Bruns Road in far east Contra Costa County, near Bethany Lane in Byron, authorities said. The location is near the line that separates Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

Authorities said the rider was a man. They did not identify him immediately.

According to a CHP statement, the driver rode a Suzuki motorcycle and was going north on Bruns Road when he lost control and went down on the roadway. The CHP has not determined what caused the man to lose control but said they do not suspect impaired driving.

He died at the scene.

The CHP is still investigating and asked anyone who may have seen or heard anything before or during the wreck to contact them at 925-646-4980.
