Apple is set to announce a new range of Mac computers as early as next week, with one of the company’s executives teasing a series of new devices. New M4 versions of the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini are widely expected to debut.
Setting the scene, Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, posted on X, encouraging people to “Mac” their calendars.
“We have an exciting week of announcements ahead, starting on Monday morning,” Joswiak’s post said.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman expects that Apple’s announcements will include a series of Macs equipped with the latest M4 chips. Apple surprised pundits earlier in the year, debuting the M4 silicon with the 2024 iPad Pro range instead of its computers.
Gurman’s reporting indicates that we’ll see M4 versions of the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini as part of next week’s announcements. It’ll coincide with the official rollout of Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of generative AI features.
Although internal upgrades are the main anticipated changes, the Mac Mini is set to get a new coat of paint. Smaller than previous Minis, Gurman wrote that it’ll rival the Apple TV in terms of physical size.
Alongside the M4 Mac range, Apple will likely announce USB-C versions of its computing accessories. This includes peripherals like the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, which have previously used Apple’s older Lightning connector technology.
Following Apple’s recent launches of the Gen 7 iPad Mini and the iPhone 16 range, the new M4 Macs are tipped to benefit from faster overall processing speeds.
Other than Joswiak’s social media post, Apple hasn’t yet shared any specific announcement details. Based on the post’s wording, it could well be a drip feed of product drops throughout next week, so keep an eye out for the latest news.
