Simplifying content discovery, the latest Fetch TV update is the most extensive yet, ensuring Aussies can spend less time searching and more time watching.
For those who don’t want to hand over money to Foxtel’s iQ5 or Hubbl, the Fetch TV Mighty and Mini set-top boxes have long been the best alternative for unifying free-to-air, pay TV and streaming in Australian lounge rooms.
Australians are spoilt for choice when it comes to free and paid content providers. Thankfully, the rise of cross-platform search and discovery makes it much easier to find something to watch than trawling through each service one-by-one on a Friday night.
The latest Fetch TV user experience update continues to tackle the tyranny of choice, by streamlining the user interface to improve navigation, search and discovery. It also takes advantage of AI-driven recommendations to suggest new content based on what you’ve previously enjoyed.
“We are incredibly excited to introduce this transformative UX update to our customers,” said Fetch TV CEO, Dominic Arena.
“Our goal was to create the next generation of world-class interface that not only looks modern and engaging but also simplifies the customer journey, making it easier than ever to discover and access the vast slate of free-out-of-the-box, subscription and on-demand content Fetch offers.”
New Fetch TV update menus
Rolling out to Fetch TV Mighty and Mini boxes from the end of March, the latest Fetch OS 4.40 upgrade ensures more seamless access to free and subscription content, along with the latest blockbuster movies and TV shows on demand.
Improvements include faster access to favourites along with instant access to where you left off from any app, TV channel, movie or show.
A new simplified main menu returns to the top of the screen, having moved to the bottom with the widely unpopular Fetch OS 3.30 update back in 2023. The Fetch OS 3.30 update left many long-time Fetch users frustrated, with features moved and some content harder to access.
With the new OS 4.40, top-level menu options across the top of the screen include Home, Live TV, Apps and Store, along with Recordings on Fetch TV Mighty boxes, as well as on Mini boxes which can stream recordings from a Mighty box elsewhere the home.
The new Home menu is designed to be a more comprehensive content hub, covering the entire screen.

The Home menu features a scrolling highlights carousel curated by Fetch. Below are quick links to streaming services, followed by quick resume options and a range of platform and cross-platform content recommendations.
The simplified top-level menus make Live TV easier to find, while removing more granular top-level menus like Shows, Movies, Sport and the somewhat ambiguous My Stuff.
Whereas the previous Guide menu provided quick links to currently screening television shows, the new Live TV menu offers quick links to most viewed channels and the onscreen TV guide.

The new Store menu unifies searching for on-demand content across movies and television shows.

Meanwhile, the Apps menu offers quick links to trending content along with easy access to streaming and free-to-air apps.

At first look, Fetch’s new platform update promises to be a welcome improvement.
