Earlier in the year, Sennheiser debuted the Accentum Clip, the renowned audio brand’s first clip-on open-ear headphones. At the time, there wasn’t a confirmed launch date in Australia, but the earbuds have since launched, joining Sennheiser’s diverse stable of headphones.
Open-ear headphones are having their moment, with sales of the form factor rising to their highest levels so far. As opposed to the bulk of over-ear headphones or the intrusive nature of in-ear headphones, open-ear headphones are light and don’t block ear canals, letting wearers stay aware of their surroundings.
It’s that appeal that Sennheiser is leaning into with the $349 Accentum Clip, which joins the over-ear Accentum range and in-ear Accentum buds. Each bud weighs 6.8g, nestling on top of, rather than inside, the wearer’s ears. To stay in place, a silicone band keeps the buds gently clasped while flexing for different ear shapes. It’s a style of headphone that’s suited for out-and-about wear, in addition to exercise, backed by an IP54 design.
Inside is a 12mm driver, supported by what Sennheiser calls a “Dynamic EQ”, which adjusts the audio’s tone based on volume. Additionally, there’s a five-band EQ to play with for manual customisation.
Sennheiser’s buds pair via Bluetooth 6.0, supporting multipoint connectivity and Google Fast Pair. Individually, the buds last up to nine hours on a single charge, with the included charging case supplying up to 36 hours of total use. Depending on the device and source audio, the Accentum Clip supports LDAC, SBC, and AAC codecs.
Now available via Sennheiser’s online store and Harvey Norman, the Sennheiser Accentum Clip comes in Black and Cream colour options. After the initial launch period, other retailers will sell the buds starting in October with an additional Ice Blue option.
