A person was stabbed Monday evening near Monterey’s Cannery Row, and the suspect was last seen on a popular recreation path, police in Pacific Grove said.

The attack was reported at 6:05 p.m. near where the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail runs adjacent to the American Tin Cannery shopping area.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police released a surveillance camera image of the suspect: a man who looks to be in his 40s, tall and slender, with dark hair and a full beard. He was last seen on foot, heading toward Lovers Point on the Recreation Trail.
The paved walking and cycling trail runs past Monterey’s most popular tourist attractions: the beaches, the aquarium, Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row.
The police asked that anyone who recognizes the man call (831) 648-3143 or the tipline (831) 648-3159.
