After two consecutive years of finishing second to Mike Lefkow in the Bay Area News Group’s all-for-fun high school football picks competition, yours truly is feeling pretty good as we enter the penultimate week of the fall 2021 season.
I’ve got a five-game lead on Evan Webeck and an 11-game cushion on Lefkow.
And the finish line is near.
We pick seven regional championship games to be played this weekend, including Folsom at De La Salle, Pittsburg vs. Liberty-Bakersfield at Bakersfield College, and Manteca at Wilcox.
Webeck, who has covered the Warriors for us since the start of the season, is calling the upset of the weekend.
He’s got Folsom beating De La Salle.
