49ers send Dee Ford to injured reserve; Jeff Wilson among activated

SANTA CLARA — Dee Ford’s bad back has caught up with him again as the 49ers placed the high-priced pass rusher onto injured reserve Saturday.

Ford missed last Sunday’s win with a concussion from a hard landing the previous game, which also aggravated the back condition that kept him out last season after the opener.

Three 49ers were activated off injury lists ahead of Sunday’s visit by the Arizona Cardinals: tight end George Kittle, kicker Robbie Gould and, in a bit of a surprise, running back Jeff Wilson Jr., who’s set to make his season debut.

Still questionable are wide receiver Deebo Samuel and running back Elijah Mitchell; Ford also was questionable.

Defensive tackle Zach Kerr got released in a bit of a surprise consider depth issues, including Javon Kinlaw’s exit last week to ACL surgery.

Up from trhe practice squad are linebacker Tyrell Adams and safety Tony Jefferson II.
