San Jose: Crashes kill two after driver collides with tree and motorcyclist hit by truck

SAN JOSE — Two traffic fatalities occurred within hours of each other in San Jose after driver crashed into a tree and a motorcyclist died after being struck by a large truck, according to authorities.

The driver of a vehicle crashed into a tree around 11:52 p.m. on Tuesday at the 1600 block of Saratoga Avenue and the person was pronounced dead, San Jose police said in a tweet. The collision was initially reported as involving two vehicles.

A motorcyclist was hit by a truck around 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday at N 10th Street and Commercial Street, according to authorities. The person was pronounced dead at the scene and the identity wasn’t immediately released.

Traffic on Wednesday morning could be impacted and officials encouraged driver to use alternate routes.
