Shooting on 880 in Oakland injures toddler

A child was injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon on Interstate 880 in Oakland, according to authorities.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital. There was no immediate information about the child’s condition.

Initial reports indicate there was an exchange of gunfire between people in two cars on I-880 near Broadway, and that the car the child was in was hit by a stray bullet.

The child is the only reported injury from the incident at this time. Authorities have not released any more information at this time.

Northbound I-880 is closed at 16th Avenue in Oakland as of 4pm Saturday.
