Made to enhance your home security system’s smarts, the new Arlo Secure 5 subscription service has launched today in Australia.
It builds on the existing platform from the smart home security brand, adding extra AI-powered features to more precisely detect who’s visiting your place. With Arlo Secure 5, you can identify specific people or vehicles, in addition to customising what your cameras detect.
A big new feature with the upgraded subscription service is getting alerts specific to who appears on your feeds. Arlo’s Person Recognition gives you notifications with a label identifying the person detected by your security cameras, based on a private database you manage.
Taking it another step further, Arlo Secure 5 adds Vehicle Recognition too. Like the people-identifying feature, it detects specific cars and sends labelled alerts, so you know who’s arrived in the driveway.
While plenty of smart home security systems enable some level of customised detection settings, Arlo’s new platform adds another layer of control. According to the company’s press release, you can train Arlo’s AI to personalise custom detections.
For example, you can set your cameras up to pick up when you’ve left the garage door open or when your mischievous pet has jumped on the couch. When the system detects one of these trigger points, it’ll send you a notification, keeping you in the loop.
These features require a subscription to the Arlo Secure Plus tier, with a monthly price of $17.99 when bought through the brand’s website. Meanwhile, the Basic tier, which doesn’t have the person or vehicle recognition features but includes cloud storage, starts at $7.99 per month.
Arlo surpassed three million subscribers earlier in the year, with many set to benefit from the new features. If you want help protecting your home, find out how to choose a home security system.
