Samsung’s new robot vacuums combine AI with a classic technology

Samsung has launched its Jet Bespoke Combo AI robot vacuum range in Australia, combining AI smarts with the cleansing power of steam.

First shown at CES 2024, Samsung’s new robot cleaners both vacuum and mop, housing a bunch of internal smarts to clean your home more thoroughly. As its name suggests, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI model relies on AI technology to reduce the manual input required from you.

“AI Floor Detect” is the main feature on show, automatically sensing the type of floor as the robot cleans. Like other robot vacuums on the market, it identifies whether it’s on hard flooring or carpeted areas, and adjusts settings like suction power on the go. Samsung makes a point of highlighting the mopping prowess, with the mop pads spinning at an average of 170RPM to tackle stubborn stains.

With a suction power rating of 6,000Pa, the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI isn’t as powerful as the likes of Ecovacs’ top-of-the-line model or the premium Roborock robot. However, Samsung’s focus looks to primarily lay in the on-device smarts of its autonomous cleaner.

Bundled with an auto-empty and cleaning station, Samsung’s robot cleaner returns to the steam age. It uses hot water to wash the robot’s mop pads, dries them with hot air, and then finishes off with a dose of steam to reduce bacteria buildup.

There’s also a slightly cheaper non-“AI” model hitting Australian shelves. Funnily enough, it still includes plenty of AI features, like floor detection, but a main difference is that there is no camera to assist with navigation and object detection.

Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo release date and price

Both new robot vacuum models are available in Australia now, from Samsung’s online store and major appliance retailers. Here’s how much you’re paying at retail for each model:

  • Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI: $2,499
  • Bespoke Jet Bot Combo: $1,999

AI continues to be a common theme with new home appliances. Expect to hear even more as the IFA trade show in Berlin kicks off this week.
