Samsung has set a date for its latest Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, where it will announce a fresh range of devices with a “new AI-powered interface”. Depending on your time zone, this Galaxy Unpacked will happen on either 9 or 10 July for Australian night owls.
Samsung also dropped a brief teaser trailer ahead of the event, including the tagline “Ultra Unfolds”. Whether this means a new Galaxy Ultra device remains to be seen, but new Z Flip and Z Fold devices are likely. Last year’s July event saw Samsung announce the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 devices, so we’re due a new model any moment from now.
If there were any doubts about Samsung’s commitment to AI-centric devices, the company’s news announcement well and truly dispelled any such notions.

No longer just a collection of apps and tools, the smartphone is evolving into a smart companion that understands user intent and responds in real time. Most interesting from that paragraph is “as AI becomes the UI”. Among every major tech company’s foray into AI, natural language has been the goal. Instead of trying to find the correct words to interface with a device, the idea is that you can use everyday language, and the technology will interpret your request accordingly.
Also of interest is the continued use of Samsung’s disclaimer over its Galaxy AI platform of features. “Fees may apply to certain AI Features at the end of 2025,” the disclaimer reads.
When asked in January about the company’s plans beyond 2025, a spokesperson said that Samsung “currently [has] no plans to adopt paid or subscription-based models” and that the company would monitor market trends before deciding on the next step.
