Adding to its extensive range of cameras, Sony has confirmed the Australian launch of the RX1R III, a premium fixed-lens full-frame shooter.
Equipped with a 61MP sensor and a 35mm F2 Zeiss lens, the RX1R III is for photographers who like getting up close and personal. It does have some flexibility, however, in the form of the “Step Crop Shooting” function, which cycles between 35mm, 50mm, and 70mm focal length equivalents. If you shoot in RAW, you can also crop between focal lengths while editing.
Sony also spruiks the camera’s intelligent auto-focus tech, which uses AI to identify subjects. It can reportedly track people even when faces aren’t visible, helping snap in-focus pictures of fast-moving subjects.
The RX1R III is a pricey one, though, costing $7,999, although that’s still cheaper than the Fujifilm GFX100RF. For keen photographers with a bit of spare cash, the camera is coming to Australia this August.
