EA Sports FC 26 gameplay reveal directly addresses feedback

EA Sports FC 26 gameplay reveal directly addresses feedback

When companies reveal their brand-new slick sports simulation, it’s normally joined by a highly polished sizzle reel of footage that doesn’t always reflect the end product. EA Sports FC 26 took a slightly different approach with its gameplay reveal trailer overnight.

It still has a bunch of flashy highlights, but accompanying nearly every clip is a social media-like overlay of comments demanding gameplay changes. From requesting snappier passing to fewer goals from goalkeeper deflections, the demands pop up thick and fast.

It’s impossible to verify the source of the comments — searching for “@patchthep1tch” returned no hits, for example — but I’ve seen enough online feedback about sports games over the years to believe they’re grounded in some level of truth.

EA’s feedback-driven reveal is an interesting one, likely based on the performance of last year’s entry. EA Sports FC 25 had “lower-than-expected” sales in 2024 before rebounding earlier this year to continue being one of EA’s biggest money makers.

EA Sports FC 26 advertises better dribbling responsiveness, smarter goalkeeper positioning, and better player movement among the myriad changes coming to the annual franchise. Different gameplay presets include “Authentic” and “Competitive”, designed to play differently based on either sheer realism or responsiveness for competitive players.

This year’s game stars Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala, and Zlatan Ibrahimović as the cover athletes, assuming the coveted pride of place when EA Sports FC 26 launches on 26 September 2025. Or, as is increasingly commonplace, the pricier “Ultimate Edition” will launch a week earlier on 19 September. It’ll be available on all major gaming platforms, including the new Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders live now.
