Global tech repair community iFixit is back with a new teardown, awarding the Fairphone 6 a perfect 10 out of 10 score for its repairability. Unfortunately for eco-conscious buyers, the phone isn’t available in Australia.
iFixit praised how easy it was to run DIY repairs on the Fairphone 6, including its screen, battery, and cameras, among everything else. Scored according to a rubric assessing design, documentation, and access to spare parts, iFixit’s repairability tests promote device longevity and sustainability.
That’s a core ethos of Fairphone, a Dutch company that aims to make mobile devices as ethically as possible. It’s been around since 2013, but shows no signs of entering the Australian market anytime soon. Fortunately, if repairability is the main selling point, HMD’s phones score well with iFixit, like the HMD Fusion and HMD Skyline.
