For those worried about being caught by a flat battery in your home security camera, Arlo has just launched the Wired Floodlight Camera in Australia, aimed at providing uninterrupted surveillance.
Not long after releasing a camera with a bigger battery, Arlo’s latest $249 security camera plugs directly into a power source instead. Equipped with many of the smarts the home security is known for, the Wired Floodlight Camera records footage in 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution. As the name suggests, it also comes with a light capable of reaching 2,000 lumens of brightness.
Not resting on its laurels, the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera doesn’t just rely on its light to get the job done. It also supports night vision, helping identify details in any dark areas. With a wider 160-degree field of view, the new camera fits more in the frame than the recent 130-degree Essential 2K model.
Other standard features include two-way audio, outdoor weather resistance, and a siren to ward off wannabe intruders. The camera also comes with a feature called “Arlo Foresight”, the company’s fancy label for pre-roll footage. Any motion-activated recording it saves includes four seconds of footage before the alert. It’s to help see anything that led up to an event, just in case someone tried any funny business.
Subscription-based features are common practice among home security brands, and Arlo is no different. The company’s Arlo Secure plans, starting at $8.33 per month, provide 30 days of cloud storage, more personalised notifications, and person and vehicle recognition.
Out now in Australia, the black version of the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is available at Bunnings and Arlo’s online store. A white version will launch online on 11 November before hitting stores in person next year.
