Making a return to the premium phone market in Australia, Oppo has launched its flagship Find X8 Pro locally.
Priced at $1,799 in Australia, the Oppo Find X8 Pro matches the cost of the iPhone 16 Pro, firmly placing it in the high-end category, well above the brand’s existing handsets in the country. On paper, the FInd X8 Pro appears to live up to its premium aspirations, bringing Oppo’s flagship range outside China for the first time in a couple of years.
Sporting a 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Oppo’s top-end phone cranks up the brightness to 1,600 nits. On the inside, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of built-in storage.
Photography is one of Oppo’s specialties, with the Find X8 Pro coming with a 50MP quad-camera array replete with a 6x zoom lens offering a 135mm equivalent focal length. Notably, all cameras support 4K 60fps video footage, including the front-facing selfie lens. Like the iPhone 16 range’s Camera Control, the Find X8 Pro has a touch-activated input on the side called the “Quick Button” that controls zoom levels and the shutter.
Oppo’s phone also comes with a sizable battery; 5910mAh to be precise. Its fast-charging technology doesn’t discriminate between wired and wireless, either. With the right charger, the Find X8 Pro supports up to 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless speeds.
Shipping with ColorOS 15, Oppo’s custom version of Android 15, the new phone comes with various generative AI features similar to what we’ve seen from Samsung, Google, and Apple. Some features include Google’s Circle to Search and the Gemini AI assistant.
Out now in Australia, the Oppo Find X8 Pro is available in either a Space Black or Pearl White finish from Oppo’s online store and JB Hi-Fi.
