As the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 reveal gets closer, there’s a new rumour in town. It’s possible that Samsung is working on a Galaxy S25 “Slim” phone, which could go head-to-head with the iPhone 17 Air that’s reportedly in the works.
Reports of the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim come from South Korean publication ETNews. The report claims that Samsung will launch the thinner model after the main Galaxy S25 range next year to test the waters. If it does well, Samsung could then integrate the Slim alongside its core flagship phones the following year.
A mystery model number has also surfaced online, further fuelling speculation over Samsung’s plans. There’s also talk that the rumoured Galaxy S25 Slim could share a high-level camera used by the Ultra range. Samsung announced multiple new camera sensors in June, including a 200MP telephoto sensor that could debut in next year’s top-of-the-range handset.
It remains to be seen whether the so-called Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim adds to or replaces the affordable category occupied by the S24 FE, GadgetGuy‘s pick for best-value phone.
While there’s a lot of speculation so far, Samsung is known for experimenting with different form factors. Both the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip have become mainstays, while the brand also produces plenty of budget Android handsets.
It’s only a matter of time until we find out how accurate the current rumours are. There’s also the possibility due to the speculated smaller launch strategy that Australia might not get the S25 Slim at all. Until we learn more, the thinner phone remains speculation, but it makes sense if Apple is trying the same thing.
