Adding more than just phones to its range, Motorola has launched the Moto Tag tracker in Australia to help keep an eye on your belongings.
Designed to work with any Android phone that supports Bluetooth Low Energy, the Moto Tag adopts a more open-system approach. As long as your phone runs on Android 9.0 or later and supports BLE, the tracker should work just fine.
That’s the main difference between similar trackers from Apple and Samsung. Devices like the Galaxy Smart Tag 2 are mainly for their respective ecosystem. Motorola’s platform-agnostic approach (within the Android ecosystem) seems like a smart decision.
Motorola’s Bluetooth tracker taps into Google’s Find My Device network, triangulating its position anywhere in the world. To put fears of misuse to rest, you can manually scan nearby trackers, just in case someone is using one without your permission.
The Moto Tag’s battery lasts up to a year, and you can change it with an off-the-shelf CR2032 replacement when the time comes. It’s also rated at IP67, equating to dust and water resistance. Splashes should be fine but avoid submerging it in water.
It’s out now in Australia, with a single Moto Tag priced at $55, while a four-pack costs $179. You can grab one from Harvey Norman in either Jade Green or Starlight Blue colours.
