Every PS5 Pro Enhanced game you can play right now

With the upgraded PS5 Pro console now available, what can you actually play that takes advantage of the new hardware? As of launch, there are more than 50 games that have received the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” treatment, inclusive of various visual and performance improvements.

Compared to the original PlayStation 5 console, the PS5 Pro has a GPU with 67% more compute units, giving it more graphical rendering power. It also has a hardware-specific AI upscaling technology called “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution” (PSSR). This lets the console render visual details at a lower resolution before upscaling it to the target output.

Depending on the game, the PS5 Pro Enhanced differences vary between subtle to easily noticeable improvements in clarity and motion. You can see what games currently take advantage of the PS5 Pro below, including an explanation of what to look for.

What does PS5 Pro Enhanced mean?

There’s no set definition for what PS5 Pro Enhanced means, per se. It’s largely up to each developer to tap into the new console and make improvements on a game-by-game basis.

As mentioned in GadgetGuy‘s PS5 Pro review, a lot of first-party PlayStation games now have Pro-specific graphical options. The likes of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can hit 60fps in their respective Performance Pro modes while maintaining the visual quality of the base PS5’s Fidelity mode.

There’s a section on PlayStation’s website that includes several quotes from developers who have produced PS5 Pro Enhanced upgrades to their games. Some of the explanations are quite detailed, offering insight into the specific changes from the original PS5 to the PS5 Pro.

For example, Vincent Marxen, Lead Programmer at Naughty Dog, explained how the enhanced version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered works on the PS5 Pro.

“The game will offer a new PS5 Pro-specific enhanced rendering mode that takes advantage of improved graphics processing, rendering 1440p, then upscaling to 4K via PSSR super resolution,” Marxen said. ” This mode maintains the 60fps target, offering an ideal balance of frame rate and resolution.”

Meanwhile, Stellar Blade now has an 80fps mode in addition to a native 4K mode targeting 50fps. It’s a similar story across the board, with developers outlining game-specific improvements based on frame rates and resolution.

“For Horizon Forbidden West, [the PS5 Pro’s power] means you can now enjoy a visual quality that matches or surpasses the Quality mode on the regular PlayStation 5, but now at 60fps – double the frame rate,” added Jan-Bart van Beek, Guerilla’s Studio Director and Art Director.

Expect to see plenty more games support the PS5 Pro-specific features now that the console is out in the wild.
