Despite its name, Dyson’s new vacuum does more than you might suspect

Dyson’s track record of amusing product names continues, with a new device that does exactly what it says on the tin. Named the Dyson Car+Boat, it’s a handheld vacuum designed specifically for keeping cars and boats clean. Simple, no?

Dyson claims its specifically labelled vacuum is the “most powerful” of any handheld cleaning device on the market. That claim comes off the back of a 110,000-RPM motor and 115 air watts of suction power. It also weighs less than 2kg, making it relatively easy to hold with one hand.

Dyson’s other big claim is a generous battery life. When set to a low power mode, the Dyson Car+Boat is advertised to last 50 minutes on a single battery charge. It certainly makes the days of manoeuvring a corded vacuum cleaner around a car look like a lot of hard work.

Despite the name, the Car+Boat isn’t just for cars and boats. Dyson also suggests its portable vacuum is ideal for cleaning bedding, and pet fur, and reaching into tight nooks and crannies.

If there’s one brand that’s made cleaning a science, it’s Dyson. This time around, the company boasts a built-in filtration system capable of sucking up 99.99% of tiny particles. Even if allergies wreak havoc on your health, Dyson reckons the Car+Boat will hold you in good stead while you vacuum.

Dyson Car+Boat price in Australia

Priced at $449 in Australia, the Dyson Car+Boat is out now via the brand’s online store. It also comes with several attachments; a Mini Motorised Tool for tackling dirt, a Combination Tool that houses a brush and wide nozzle, and a Crevice Tool that reaches into tight spaces.

As far as names go, Car+Boat is right up there with the Dyson Submarine and 360 Vis Nav. I’d love to be a fly on the wall during Dyson’s product name meetings.
