It may be the mother of all first-world problems, but trying to watch what you want on a hotel TV is an exercise in frustration. In 2025, how hard is it to let us cast content from our phones to a screen? Fortunately, LG is stepping up, enabling Google Cast on its recent hotel TV models.
When LG launched its 2024 TVs, it added Chromecast functionality to make casting from Android devices easier. In a similar vein, LG revealed at Integrated Systems Europe 2025 a range of hotel TVs with Google Cast built-in.
The evolution of Chromecast, Google Cast lets you stream media from your device to the big screen. It’s platform agnostic too, supporting a range of Android and Apple phones, as well as computers.
Separate from LG’s consumer-facing TVs, the company has a separate division of hotel and commercial televisions. These displays are different from the ones you see at the shops, mainly because the hotel has more control over the experience, like custom welcome screens.
LG’s hotel TVs got Apple AirPlay support in 2024, and the recent addition of Google Cast rounds out the streaming ecosystem. No more flicking through dozens of channels you don’t want to watch, or putting up with a limited number of pre-installed streaming apps. If you can watch it on your phone, you can beam it to the TV.
The Google Cast update also applies to any LG hotel TV running webOS23 or later, working with phones running Android 6 or iOS 14. According to LG, casting is as simple as scanning a QR code displayed on the TV. The connection remains active for the duration of your stay and gets deleted once you check out, reducing the risk of unwanted network access.
There are no guarantees that the hotel you’re staying at will have the latest TVs, but at least future stays could be less cumbersome.
