Android users can now watch Apple’s biggest shows and sport coverage without owning an iPhone or other iOS device. Announced today, the Apple TV app is available for download from the Goole Play store on Android phones, tablets and foldables around the world.
The Android Apple TV app was built from the ground up “to give Android users a familiar and intuitive interface”, according to Apple’s announcement. This includes access to hit shows like Severance, Ted Lasso, Silo, Slow Horses, Morning Wars, Presumed Innocent, and Shrinking, along with MLS Season Pass, Apple’s “Home of Major League Soccer”, Baseball and more.
Other features include ‘Continue Watching’, where a user can pick up where they left off across different Android devices, along with ‘Watchlists’ for keeping track of things to watch in the future.
Users can stream content over Wi-Fi or a mobile phone connection, or download videos to their devices to watch offline.
The Apple TV app also gives Android users the option to subscribe to Apple TV+ to tap into Apple’s home made catalog including drama and comedy series, feature films, documentaries and kids entertainment. A subscription to Apple TV+ costs $12.99 per month in Australia after a free trial.
