If you like the idea of seeing the world through a smart display but think the Apple Vision Pro is too bulky, Apple might have something just for you. A new report claims that Apple plans to release a set of smart glasses by the end of 2026, as part of a push into AI-enabled wearables.
The report comes courtesy of Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who claims that Apple is increasing its focus on the smart specs. Apple launched the Vision Pro mixed-reality headset last year and, while impressive, has sold slowly due to its high cost and bulky form factor.
What Apple has in mind is reportedly similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses and Google’s XR Glasses it demoed alongside AI-powered search this week. According to Gurman, Apple’s smart glasses will be able to translate languages, provide directions, and function as a camera – all hallmarks of AI wearables.
Based on the reporting, Apple is set to step up its smart glasses prototyping this year ahead of a public reveal and launch next year.
