Want in-ear headphones but don’t like the popular design that blocks your ears? Sennheiser has just launched the Accentum Open, one of the brand’s cheapest wireless earbuds to date.
Part of Sennheiser’s more affordable line of headphones, like the Accentum True Wireless and Accentum over-ear headphones, the $179.95 Accentum Open does things a bit differently. They’re an open-fit style of earbuds, not using silicon tips like many other in-ear headphones.
Although not quite as radically different as open-ear headphones like the Shokz OpenFit Air, the Sennheiser Accentum Open is still designed to be gentler on your ears. It’s the type of earbud for when you want to stay aware of your surroundings, like in an office or going for a walk outside.
On the inside is an 11mm dynamic transducer, powering the sound. They also include dual beamforming microphones that filter out background noise when you make calls. Due to the open-fit design, the Accentum Open doesn’t include active noise cancellation. That’s the domain of the $349 Accentum True Wireless.

In lieu of active noise cancellation, the Accentum Open supports freely swapping between devices via Bluetooth 5.3. In other words, you can quickly move from your computer to your phone and vice versa as needed.
Fitting with the unobtrusive goal, these buds are also very light. Each bud weighs 4.4 grams, more than a gram less than its True Wireless counterpart. Sennheiser advertises the battery life as being up to 6.5 hours of listening time, extended up to 28 hours with the included charging case.
Out now in Australia, the Sennheiser Accentum Open comes in either Cream or Black. It’s available to order via Sennheiser’s online store and JB Hi-Fi in Australia.
