A UK study has found that young people are disillusioned with the current state of the internet. Answering the question “would rather be young in a world without the internet?” 46% of the 1,293 surveyed UK young adults aged between 16-21 responded in the affirmative.
These results come from research by the British Standards Institution (BSI) during a time when social media and digital technologies are under increasing levels of scrutiny. Closer to home, research from the eSafety Commissioner found growing concerns over young people’s use of location-sharing technology.
Australia’s government has a youth social media ban on the cards, although it has drawn criticism from academics for lacking detail and scope.
