Dyson PencilVac is just 38mm: That’s one slim vacuum

At just 38mm in diameter, roughly the size of a 20-cent coin, Dyson claims its new PencilVac is the “world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner”. It also sports the company’s smallest vacuum motor, capable of spinning at speeds of up to 140,000 RPM.

So, why make such a slender vacuum? Ease of use is one spruiked benefit. At 1.8kg, the Dyson PencilVac should be easier to hold aloft and vacuum areas typically hard to reach when using bulkier devices. It can also lay flat on the ground to help reach underneath furniture. As part of the head unit, the PencilVac has four nylon brush sections that rotate in opposite directions to stop hair from getting tangled.

Dyson hasn’t revealed an Australian price or release date yet. For now, it’s opened online registrations for those keen to be the first to know more.
