Nvidia has been widely accused of manipulating reviews throughout the launch of its RTX 5060 graphics cards. Criticisms from multiple overseas publications reference withholding of driver updates until launch day and other practices that have raised the ire of reviewers.
One of the most prominent critiques came from a Gamer’s Nexus video, detailing various topics, including alleged pressure from Nvidia to focus on frame generation tech in reviews. Dave James from PC Gamer took the unusual step of reviewing the RTX 5060 live, after receiving a card several weeks ago but was denied access to the necessary drivers until launch.
Over at The Verge, Sean Hollister mentioned that some reviewers did have pre-launch access. However, this was reportedly because they agreed to highly specific testing conditions meant to put the RTX 5060 in a good light.
It’s a messy situation for the GPU that costs roughly $600 in Australia, making it difficult for buyers to truly know if it’s worth their cash. The RTX 5060 may not be anywhere near as expensive as the RTX 5090, but it’s still a decent investment.
