I recently had the chance to attend Samsung’s 2025 appliance and AV showcase, and what really stood out wasn’t just the capabilities of individual products – but how seamlessly they all work together. From smart fridges and vacuums to TVs and washing machines, Samsung is building a smart home ecosystem where everything shares information, learns your habits, and keeps you in the loop wherever you are.
Your fridge becomes your smart home control centre
Samsung’s latest smart appliances integrate with SmartThings and its new AI Home displays – and they’re more than just screens. For instance, the 809L Bespoke AI Family Hub + French Door Refrigerator and 615L AI Home Side by Side Refrigerator now include 32-inch and 9-inch AI Home displays respectively. These aren’t just for calendars and shopping lists – they let you view your smart home’s status, trigger automations, and control connected devices directly from the kitchen.

Even better, alerts and controls now appear on more screens than ever:
- Fridge displays
- Samsung’s new Neo QLED 8K TVs like the QN990F
- Smart washing machines
- The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra Stick Vacuum
- And, of course, Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets
Smarter with sensors
It’s when you add sensors that the system really comes to life. Thanks to Matter compatibility, you can now integrate third-party smart sensors for water leaks, door and window status, motion detection, and temperature or humidity changes.
Some of the “smarter” routines include:
- Water sensors that alert you to leaks while you’re out
- A temperature sensor in your child’s room that can auto-activate the aircon
- Motion sensors that trigger all the lights and sound system to scare off intruders
- Door sensors that notify you if the garage or front door has been left open
AI and automation everywhere
One of the more impressive aspects was how Samsung is using AI and automation to make the home react to you – not the other way around.
Here are some examples I saw or discussed:
- The JetBot AI vacuum can photograph obstacles and send them to your phone – or even greet your kids at the door when they arrive home
- Samsung’s 76L Built-in Pyrolytic Flex Door Oven has internal AI cameras to detect smoke or burning and send an alert before dinner is ruined
- You can view live doorbell footage on your TV, fridge or washing machine – without reaching for your phone
- The AI Jet Ultra stick vac can even show incoming call alerts on its display!
SmartThings also supports geofencing, so the system knows when you leave the house – and can automatically turn off lights or the TV. And with Holiday Mode, it can randomly cycle lights to give the appearance someone’s home while reducing power consumption.

A 3D map of your home, from your fridge
One thing I found particularly cool was the SmartThings Map View feature. Using the large display on the fridge or TV, you get a live 3D layout of your home and can see the status of every connected device. It’s a great way to quickly check if doors are shut, appliances are on, or if anything needs attention. Even power consumption figures.
Built-in security with Samsung Knox
As more devices collect data, Samsung’s security approach is just as important as its features. All of these connected appliances are protected by Samsung Knox, with features like Knox Vault to store passwords and logins securely. Devices now have their own dedicated ‘secure element’ chip, so it’s not just at the software-level. New additions like Trust Chain even allow you to monitor the real-time security status of your home devices – right from the appliance’s own screen.
Some standouts from the 2025 line-up
Here are some of the products I was able to see in action or get hands-on with:
- 615L AI Home Side by Side Refrigerator – a little more affordable than the Family Hub fridge
- Bespoke AI Jet Ultra Stick Vacuum – with 400W suction and smart maintenance alerts
- Neo QLED 8K QN990F – with Wireless One Connect and Vision AI and a gorgeous 8K picture
- Q-Series HW-Q990F Soundbar – an 11.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos system that sounds great

A glimpse of what’s ahead
It’s clear that Samsung is aiming for more than just connected appliances – it’s going for a truly adaptive, AI-powered home. After seeing it in action, the biggest takeaway for me is how seamlessly these devices work together. The system doesn’t just notify you – it anticipates what you need, automates what it can, and gives you visibility everywhere.

Just keep in mind that nearly all Samsung smart appliances use SmartThings, require Wi-Fi and a Samsung account.
