Last year, Amazon’s networking brand launched the Eero Max 7 mesh router, taking advantage of the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology. It’s a great router, but $1,099 is a bit rich for many people’s tastes. Fortunately, there’s now a suite of cheaper options starting from $299, in the form of the Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7.
As you’d expect, the lower prices equate to some compromises on raw output. For example, the base Eero 7 router only has two network bands, 2.4GHz and 5GHz, while the other models also get the faster 6GHz band. Continuing the comparison, the Eero Max 7 reaches a wider 232 square metres with one unit, while the new routers cover up to 190 square metres.

As you can see in the comparison image above, the maximum speeds also incrementally increase according to how much you spend. From 2.3Gbps via a wired connection with the base model, up to 9.4Gbps for the top-of-the-line Eero, the speeds are more than capable throughout the range. Not that Australia’s NBN plans get even close to those numbers.
Amazon’s cheapest Wi-Fi 7 router houses two 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports, while the Pro has a couple of 5Gbps ports, and the Max has two 10Gbps ports plus two 2.5Gbps ports.

Despite the differences between routers, there are some commonalities in the range. Eero spruiks its exclusive technologies like “TrueMesh”, “TrueRoam, and “TrueChannel”, all fancy ways of referring to the routers’ ability to optimise connectivity, whether it be choosing the optimal channel or best mesh unit in the house at any given moment.
Each one is out now on Amazon, priced as follows:
- Eero 7: $299.99 (single unit) or $649.99 (three-pack)
- Eero Pro 7: $529.99 (single unit) or $1,199.99 (three-pack)
- Eero Max 7: $1,099.99 (single unit)
Amazon’s newer and cheaper mesh routers add to the growing range of affordable Wi-Fi 7 technology, alongside the $229 TP-Link Deco BE25 and Netgear’s $259 Nighthawk RS100.
